Women's Health System Unready For Planned Parenthood Cuts

Doctors' offices, community health centers and free clinics lack the capacity to take in an influx of patients who would no longer be able to access medical care at Planned Parenthood if the organization loses access to federal dollars. Especially in areas with few obstetrician-gynecologists, patients could end up going without medical care, waiting weeks or longer for appointments or being forced to travel, experts said.

Continued Bipartisan Support for Expanded Background Checks on Gun Sales

Currently, 85% of Americans - including large majorities of Democrats (88%) and Republicans (79%) - favor expanded background checks, little changed from May 2013 (81%).

Obamacare Helped Pull Uninsured Rate Down to 10.4% in 2014

In 2014, 33 million people in the U.S. were uninsured, down from 41.8 million in 2013, according to the Census report. While other reports have shown a similar decline in the number of uninsured Americans and include more recent enrollment for 2015, the Census data is considered the gold standard.

Earth's record streak of record heat keeps on sizzling

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration announced Thursday that August, this past summer and the first eight months of 2015 all smashed global records for heat. That's the fifth straight record hot season in a row and the fourth consecutive record hot month. Meteorologists say 2015 is a near certainty to eclipse 2014 as the hottest year on record.
