Diane, MSNBC called Ron DeSantis "a far more dangerous politician than Donald Trump." It's not hard to see why.

His takeover of Florida's redistricting process was unprecedented and ruthless – his map eliminated two districts that sent Black representatives to Congress and all but guaranteed a Republican House majority.

His attacks on LGBTQ youth, women, and Black Americans have been beyond the pale.

Ron DeSantis has made it clear that when it comes to using any means necessary to advance his far-right agenda, he's just getting started:

You ain't seen nothing yet. – Ron DeSantis, March 7, 2023

Thanks in large part to years of GOP gerrymandering, Republicans hold a supermajority in the Florida legislature. Now, they plan to use their power to implement every right-wing priority on Ron DeSantis' wish list, including:

❌ Banning abortion statewide
❌ Eliminating gun restrictions
❌ Expanding "Don't Say Gay" and "Don't Say They" legislation in schools
❌ Outlawing healthcare for transgender youth

…and more.

Here's the worst part: According to recent reports, Ron DeSantis has already told his closest confidants that he plans to run for president – and he's leading in polls.

Ron DeSantis and politicians like him must be held accountable now. That's why the NDRC is working across the country to defeat gerrymandering Republicans and replace them with Democrats who will defend our democracy. Will you donate now to support our work nationwide?

Politicians like Ron DeSantis are a danger to our democracy, Diane. But with your help, we can defeat them across the country.

Sheriff (Ret.) Danny Diggs Submits Petitions for Candidacy.

I am humbled by the tremendous amount of support that I have received from my community over the past few months. Today, I have submitted the number of signatures and petitions necessary to have my name placed on the ballot for State Senator. After weeks of door-knocking and going out into the community to speak and meet with the hardworking men and women of the 24th Senate District, I was able to submit hundreds of signatures. It is clear that Virginians are ready for change!

Since Governor Youngkin was elected, Democrats in the State Senate have stood in the way of commonsense legislation to help lower our taxes, protect our children, and make Virginia a place where we feel comfortable raising a family again.

On November 7th, there will be a "new sheriff in town," and as your State Senator,

  • I will fight tooth and nail to reverse the dangerous anti-safety and anti-police bills that have made our communities less safe.

  • I will fight to have our parents' voices heard in our schools and stand up for our children.

  • I will fight to help make our healthcare more affordable.

  • I will fight to end the regressive grocery and gas tax and allow hard-working Virginians to keep money in their pockets.

It has been hard work so far, but I have only just begun! Even though I have gotten all of the signatures  I need, that won't stop me. It is my goal to speak to every voter possible. So hopefully, you will be seeing me at your doorsteps soon! However, I cannot do this alone, and any support you can give will help me fight the PAC money that is funding my opponent.

Thank you for placing your faith in me. Together, we can take this district back and put Virginia back on the right track!

Sheriff (Ret.) J. D. "Danny" Diggs

Sign our petition to tell Congress to support and strengthen SNAP to help feed families!

Speak out against the GOP's tax policies!

Your Action Status: NOT YET SIGNED -> Sign Now

House Republicans proposed a 30% federal sales tax that would give the wealthy a huge tax cut, raise taxes on working families, and threaten programs like child care, healthcare, and Social Security. It would abolish the corporate income tax, the individual income tax (which is mostly paid by wealthy Americans), the estate tax (which is exclusively paid by couples worth over $25 million), and payroll taxes (which finance Social Security and parts of Medicare). This tax plan would even eliminate the Child Tax Credit—a program we know reduces child poverty and helps our families make ends meet!

SIGN our petition saying "no" to the GOP's 30% federal sales tax proposal!

Dear Rob,

Everyone should be able to see a doctor when they get sick. Everyone.

After President Biden called out Republicans during the State of the Union about proposing to cut Medicare and Social Security, Republicans relented and agreed not to cut those programs. [1] But now Republican leaders are setting their sights on cutting other critical healthcare programs for parents and families like: Medicaid, CHIP, and the Affordable Care Act (ACA). [2] THIS IS NOT OKAY!

Quick signature: Tell Republican leadership in Congress NOT to cut Medicaid, CHIP, and the ACA! *When you click, you'll automatically sign on if we already have your information.

What's happening? In order to win over far-right Republicans to become Speaker of the House, Rep. Kevin McCarthy agreed to hold the debt ceiling increase hostage in order to extract cuts to crucial programs like Medicaid, CHIP, and the ACA. [3] It is critical that we come together to protect these healthcare programs that provide crucial healthcare coverage to millions of families across the country.

More than half of America's children receive health coverage through Medicaid and CHIP. These healthcare programs ensure that children and families have access to essential medical care, including preventive services, prescription drugs, and maternity care. Without this coverage, millions of families would be unable to afford the health care they need, leading to worse health outcomes and higher medical costs in the long run. These programs are a safety net for families during times of economic hardship, when losing health coverage can be catastrophic.

Add your name! Tell Republican leaders in Congress NO cuts to health care for children and families! *When you click, you'll automatically sign on if we already have your information.

Medicaid, CHIP, and the ACA not only play a critical role in supporting families' health, these programs also reduce income inequality and benefit our economy. With over a decade worth of data, it is clear that the Affordable Care Act and its expansion of Medicaid reduced income inequality in states that fully embraced the law. [5] These programs are critical for low-income families, communities of color, disabled individuals, and elderly people.

Access to healthcare coverage also boosts our economy by enabling individuals to stay healthy and productive, reducing the cost of lost productivity and absenteeism. Additionally, health care is a critical component of job creation, as it enables people to be able to start small businesses without the fear of losing their health care and supports the growth of healthcare-related industries.

Don't forget to sign on to protect our health care!

When you click, you'll automatically sign on to our petition that reads:

Dear Congress,

Everyone deserves to have access to health care. Medicaid, CHIP, and the Affordable Care Act are lifelines for children and families across the United States. They ensure people can receive essential medical care and protect families from financial catastrophe.

Cutting these programs would be a step backward in our efforts to build a healthier and stronger economy and society. We should expand access to health care, not cut it! Say NO to any proposed cuts to these critical programs.

The bottom line is, we must ensure that millions of families continue to have access to the health care they need and deserve by protecting Medicaid, CHIP, and the ACA. Thank you for joining us in the fight to protect our health care!

The more people who speak out, the bigger our impact. Please take a moment to share our action link with your friends and family: https://action.momsrising.org/sign/hc_2023

Together we are a powerful voice for the health of families.
