Alternatives to the Federal Reserve System
We have seen that the current system of the Federal Reserve’s control over the money supply can lead to false signals being sent through the economy, creating financial bubbles which inevitably burst. This creates market instability and is a major cause of recessions and financial crises. Recognizing that this is a problem, it is reasonable to ask what alternative systems could be put into place that would result in better outcomes. Watch here... 
Political Entrepreneurs are Crowding Out the Entrepreneurs
- by Wayne Brough via Real Clear Markets Entrepreneurs launching "disruptive technologies" are reshaping markets across the U.S. economy, often by disintermediation and innovation. While these new products and services provide consumers more choices and better value, regulators have place increased attention on these activities, from car services such as Uber and Lyft, to those offering accommodations like Airbnb, to pop up restaurants running afoul of local health codes. In many instances, these new products emerged because innovators were one step ahead of the regulators. But as the regulatory state grows, these innovators will face new challenges from regulators. Entrepreneurs and regulators work in different spaces, with completely different views of the world. For the entrepreneur, the world is fast-paced and dynamic. The goal of the entrepreneur is to identify unmet demands in the marketplace and develop the products to meet these demands. This requires innovation, adaptability, and the willingness to take risks. Regulators, on the other hand, live in a static world. By definition, regulation is backward-looking, designed to address purported market failures that have already emerged, focusing on data about past market behavior. Read more here... IRS Gets a Free Pass in Court: FreedomWorks Responds
Following news that a federal judge dismissed lawsuits brought by more than 40 conservative groups targeted by the IRS, FreedomWorks Executive Vice President Adam Brandon commented: "This ruling is offensive to every citizen who believes in equal treatment under the law. It doesn't matter when the IRS bullied conservative groups or if they stopped, the point is that it was done, and the IRS has to be held accountable. Today's decision was the legalization of federal bullying and unchecked discretionary authority, so long as agencies can play the waiting game long enough to correct their misdeeds. The fact that it occurred in the first place was appalling, but the fact that it was excused by the courts was disgraceful." Read more here... Winning WA-04 for Didier...One Voter at a Time
Last weekend, just as ballots were mailed out in Washington, FreedomWorks volunteers took to the streets and blanketed high traffic areas of Kennewick and Yakima with Clint Didier lawn signs. Mysteriously, these signs have disappeared, which you can read more about here. FreedomWorks activists are also going door to door around the district, talking to their neighbors about why Clint Didier is such a great candidate. See more here...

Barack Obama: Democrats Avoiding Me "Are All Folks Who Vote with Me, They Have Supported My Agenda in Congress"
- by Jason Pye Earlier this month, President Barack Obama told a crowd at Northwestern University that, even though he's "not on the ballot this fall," his agenda is. "But make no mistake," he said. "These policies are on the ballot, every single one of them.” Vulnerable Senate Democratic incumbents -- including Mark Udall (D-CO), Mark Pryor (D-AR), Kay Hagan (D-NC), Mark Begich (D-AK), and Mary Landrieu (D-LA) -- have spent much of the election cycle trying to avoid any connection to President Obama. They've all tried claimed independence from the Obama administration and have tried to distance themselves from its policies. Read more here... ObamaCare Enrollment Delays Hide Insurance Cost Hikes Till After Elections
- by Josh Withrow On October 1st of last year, ObamaCare’s inaugural enrollment period launched with all of the grace of a rocket exploding on its launch pad. Double-digit premium hikes, cancelled plans, and non-functioning websites caused misery for millions, leaving even supporters of the law lacking for words at times. This October there is silence, with few outside of the beltway focused on anything to do with ObamaCare. Has the system been fixed – is ObamaCare working? Not at all. People in many states can still expect to be met with premium increases for their health insurance – well into the double digits for some states – and some of those who enrolled in the exchanges last year will be in for a hassle as their plans come up for renewal. Only, those problems will not be apparent to many until this year’s new enrollment period, which begins on November 15th. By stunning coincidence, that’s after the midterm elections. - by Julie Borowski It’s no secret that Washington desperately needs to cut spending. Nearly everyone agrees that national debt levels are unsustainable. The Congressional Budget Office has warned that the nation’s debt is set to jump to 106 percent of gross domestic product (GDP) in 2039. Clearly, we cannot continue down this path. Both Republicans are Democrats are to blame for the $17.8 trillion national debt. Unfortunately, both parties have their sacred cows in the budget that they are unwilling to cut. Many Democrats say they are willing to cut military spending but won’t cut a dime of “social spending.” Many Republicans say that we need to slash the welfare state but won’t cut a dime of military spending. - by Tom Borelli It’s no secret that taxpayer money is wasted by funding projects and programs that are absolutely ridiculous. Wasteful spending at the National Institute of Health (NIH) and the Centers for Disease Control was recently exposed after Francis Collins, the head of NIH, blamed a lack of funding for the absence of an Ebola vaccine. Collins boldly stated, “Frankly, if we had not gone through our ten-year slide in research support, we probably would have had a vaccine in time for this that would’ve gone through clinical trials and would have been ready.” Read more here...
