| Robert -- In the dark days back in 2010 when everyone was saying we should give up on trying to pass health care reform, you said no. You and Barack Obama. You had fought too hard for too long to wave a white flag. One conversation, one person at a time you got the job done -- health care simply wouldn't have happened without you. And Obamacare has delivered. More than 20 million Americans have gained health care, and the uninsured rate is at a historic low. It gave middle-class families the security and peace of mind that they hadn't had before, and lives were saved because of the changes you helped bring about. All of the phone calls and the neighborhood meetings, chipping in a few dollars when you could, raising your voice at town halls -- you helped make Obamacare a reality. Add your name right now, and say you'll commit to keep fighting. The night Obamacare passed, I attended the vote-watch party in the Roosevelt Room at the White House. I remember the feeling of relief and pride that filled that room when the final vote was announced. But a lot of us didn't realize that passing the law was the easy part. Over the next seven years there was a cynical and well-funded campaign designed to confuse, mislead, and play games with people's health care. They made up ridiculous lies about death panels, repeatedly tried to repeal the law, and even challenged it all the way to the Supreme Court. But when it comes to health care reform, there was no more cynical move than the one we've witnessed over the past couple of weeks. The new administration and Speaker Paul Ryan tried to rush through a terrible piece of legislation that the majority of Americans oppose. Their bill would have stripped health care away from millions of Americans and ended Medicaid as we know it. It would have taken us back to the days when insurance companies could choose not to cover essential health benefits like maternity or mental health coverage. But the same tireless advocacy once again accomplished something amazing -- something that was unimaginable a couple months ago, back when Obamacare opponents were just waiting for inauguration to cross the Ts and dot the Is of repeal. Today, because of people like you, repeal efforts were dealt a serious blow. Today's a day that reaffirms that when we stand up for what's right, we can overcome remarkable odds. That when we organize, speak out, and take action, Washington hears our message loud and clear. But let's be clear, opponents of Obamacare will not back down for good. They will continue to do everything in their power to chip away at and undermine the law, regardless of who it hurts. There's a lot of work to do ahead of us, but now we know we're ready.
