Robert -- We just got word that the House is postponing the vote to repeal Obamacare. Obamacare's opponents don't yet have the votes to pass their so-called plan, and we have to keep the pressure on. Two months ago, they said they'd have repealed this law by now, but because people like you have been speaking out, they've delayed their timeline. But this fight is far from over and it affects too many lives to risk letting up now. This bill would strip health care away from millions of Americans, end Medicaid as we know it, and they may change it so that it would even end important, essential health benefits like requiring maternity or mental health coverage or let annual and lifetime limits back in insurance plans. But for some in Congress that still wasn't enough, so Obamacare opponents will hold a closed door meeting tonight to talk about what changes to make to force the bill through -- changes that will pander to extremists and ultimately make this bill even worse for the American public. OFA, along with coalition partners, are gathering at events across the country tomorrow to let our representatives know that the only acceptable vote on this bill is "no." Join your neighbors by finding an event near you.
Make no mistake, congressional leaders are going to use this extra time to make backroom deals to try and get the votes they need. But this delay is proof that our voices matter more -- that the health, security and well-being of our community matter more than Washington deal-making. Get involved, and do your part to defend Obamacare. Find an event near you now. Thanks for all you're doing, Saumya Saumya Narechania National Issues Campaign Manager Organizing for Action | ||
