DianeA, It’s even worse than we thought. The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO) has completed its analysis of TrumpCare, the Republicans’ proposed replacement for Obamacare. They found that the Republican bill would result in 24 million people losing their health insurance by 2026. Folks showed up to town halls across the country to tell the GOP how important their health care was to them -- and now it’s clear that the GOP did not listen. Will you add your name alongside mine and tell Republicans that TrumpCare is unacceptable? Here are just a few more problems I have with this bill: - Americans would see their premiums spike -- especially seniors
- Virginia and other states would be forced to make steep cuts to Medicaid
- Health insurance companies would no longer be required to cover maternity care or birth control
- Planned Parenthood, which cares for 30,000 Virginians every year, would be completely defunded
- Finally, while taking away care from people who have trouble affording it, the bill would give the wealthiest individuals a sizeable tax cut.
Here’s the bottom line. President Trump said repeatedly that no one would lose coverage under the Republicans’ plan. According to the CBO, this bill shatters that promise. I intend to speak out against this bad bill -- and I hope you’ll join me. Will you add your name to tell Republicans that Virginia won’t stand for millions of people losing their health coverage? Thank you, Tim |
