Jackson for Lt. Governor

,

George WashingtonToday is George Washington's Birthday. As many of you know, he is my favorite American historical figure. There are many reasons I hold his memory so dear. First, I believe that without him, there would be no United States of America. Not only was he the singularly indispensable person in the Revolutionary War, but he was also a prime mover in the creation of our Constitution. He presided over the Constitutional Convention because he was the only figure to command the respect of every single delegate. He was twice elected President unanimously by the electoral college.

All of our Founding Fathers pledged their lives, fortunes and sacred honor. George Washington, more than any other, lived that pledge. He put his life on the line in battle. He put his fortune in jeopardy while he fought for his country. And his honor was tested repeatedly as he refused to succumb to doubt and discouragement.

I have often proudly declared myself a "son" of George Washington. However, as I'm sure you can tell, I don't look much like our first President. Obviously, I am not a biological heir, but every American is a spiritual and intellectual heir of George Washington - we are all his sons and daughters.

It is in the spirit of President Washington that I have called on the Governor and the Virginia General Assembly to Defy Not Comply with Obamacare.

To be sure, I am no George Washington, and I am in no way equating myself with this great man. But how we need leaders like him today - who are not pursuing a political career, but seeking the best for our country; who are not in love with power, but in love with America; who do not want to lord it over people, but want to serve people. That is why I admire George Washington. There will likely never be another American of his stature, but we can all emulate his patriotism, honor, courage and willingness to defy tyranny.

That is what I will bring to the office of Lt. Governor of Virginia. I am asking for your help. Please click here to make a donation of $22 or more in honor of a great American hero's birthday, the Father of our country, George Washington.

I am sure that if he looks down from heaven today, he shakes his head in utter disgust at what President Obama is doing to our Republic. Let's give him a reason to smile. Let him know that we Americans, we patriots, have not forgotten his service and sacrifice for our country. By the grace of God, our Founders gave us this Republic. By that same grace, we are going to keep it.

Just as George Washington never gave up the fight for freedom - even when all hope seemed lost - we will never give up. The torch of freedom burns dim under this regime, but here in Virginia and across America, we will set it ablaze to shine so brightly that all patriots will be drawn to it. May those under the deception of this administration be awakened by that light and come out of the darkness which has engulfed them.

America will again be a shining city on a hill, a beacon light of freedom and a bastion of hope. With your help, restoration begins in Virginia in 2013. God bless you, and may He always bless the United States of America.

For God & Country,
