REMINDER Congressional Exemption - Protest & Letter Writing
As you know, Congress has granted itself and certain of its staff a sweetheart deal under Obamacare. Congress is not living under the same rules it imposed on the rest of us.
Alexandria Tea Party is supporting Tea Party Patriots' call for a nationwide protest on Wednesday, June 17th
from 12 noon to 1 p.m. local time.
We will meet at 11:45 a.m. that day on the east side of the U.S. Capitol building on Capitol Hill, in the middle of the plaza right above the entrance ramp to the Visitor's Center.
After making signs, we will divide into two (or more) groups and proceed to hi-traffic spots where we are likely to encounter many Members of Congress and staff. These spots are at the two corners of the Capitol building and possibly across the street at House and Senate office building corner sidewalks.
I will bring sign-making materials. No signs are allowed inside the buildings and we have to keep any one group under 20 participants because we will not have a permit.
LETTER WRITING CAMPAIGN
We also support TPP's effort to mobilize the grassroots to write letters to the editor and to Members of Congress. TPP has developed a tool kit containing an LTE template, sample letter to elected representatives, talking points (e.g., what to say when your elected representative claims 'we're under Obamacare'), and other good information (e.g., the graphic on p.6 'Congress is not a small business' is ideal for tweeting). The toolkit may be downloaded at -
