Why?

Good afternoon--

Chances are, you’ve heard (or will soon hear), that I’m running to be Virginia’s next Senator. But I wanted to take the opportunity to speak with you directly about why I’m running.

My father came to America from Ireland because his dad found work here as a janitor. He loved and fought for his adopted country, found opportunity here, and taught us the importance of hard work and a good education. And only in America could my father, born in Ireland, live to see his son rise from working as a parking lot attendant to serving as a counselor to the President of the United States.

These are the values I learned from my father and the American dream I want for my family -- and yours. As I explain in my announcement video below, that dream is being undermined as Washington turns away from the constitutional principles of limited government and personal liberty. We can do better.

Ed For Senate

We need to make life better for those who are looking for work but can’t find a job.

We need to replace Obamacare, which is killing jobs and diminishing our quality of health care.

We need to get our debt, deficit, and spending under control.

During his time in office, incumbent Senator Mark Warner has voted with President Obama 97% of the time. He was the deciding vote in favor of Obamacare. He’s voted for nearly $1 trillion in new taxes and $7 trillion in new federal debt. These policies have to change.

Revitalizing the American dream begins in Virginia.

But we can’t do this alone. I need your help.

Thanks for your support and I look forward to seeing you on the campaign trail.

Sincerely,

Ed Gillespie
