Fellow Conservatives:
The leaders of the two political parties in the U.S. Senate made major statements about Obamacare this week. Their statements say a lot about how we got where we are today.
Democratic Leader
Harry Reid (D-NV) said Obamacare was only the beginning of his party's efforts to create a completely socialized, single-payer health care system.
Reid is on offense. Republican Leader
Mitch McConnell (R-KY), however, said he won't fight to stop funding for Obamacare because he doesn't want to risk being blamed for a government shutdown.
McConnell is waving the white flag. Harry Reid will do anything to push through his agenda, but Mitch McConnell won't do a thing to stop him.
If you want to know why more senators haven't pledged to oppose funding for Obamacare, it's because of Mitch McConnell -- the man who is supposed to be leading the fight for conservative principles in the U.S. Senate.
McConnell says he wants to stop Obamacare, but his actions say otherwise.
- FACT: Mitch McConnell worked to stop Jim DeMint from forcing a vote to repeal Obamacare in 2012.
- FACT: Mitch McConnell voted for the 2013 funding bill that included money for the implementation of Obamacare.
- FACT: Mitch McConnell won't pledge to oppose the 2014 funding bill if it includes money for Obamacare.
- FACT: Mitch McConnell got several senators to remove their names from Mike Lee's letter pledging to oppose funding for Obamacare.
- FACT: Mitch McConnell says some parts of Obamacare are "okay."
Since Mitch McConnell is unwilling to see the light on this issue, we need to make him feel the heat.
SCF is preparing to launch a statewide media campaign in Kentucky to expose McConnell's record on this issue and to persuade him to lead the fight. If he changes his position, others will quickly follow.
We need to raise another $50,000 in the next few days to fully fund this campaign and a small donation -- $25, $50, $100, or whatever you can give -- will help us reach our goal.
Mitch McConnell is telling people he opposes Obamacare while he refuses to oppose its funding. We can't let him have it both ways.
If he funds it, he's for it.
