We fired Harry Reid and made Obama a lame duck

Dear Robert,

Because of you, it’s a great morning in America!

Last night we saw a historic victory as voters gave Republicans the largest majority in decades in Congress. And despite millions of dollars that were poured into Texas by Democrats, the Lone Star State remains as red as ever as strong conservatives were elected up and down the ticket.

As President Obama said himself, his policies were on the ballot and the voters spoke loud and clear. Obamacare was on the ballot, it lost. Amnesty was on the ballot, it lost. The Obama Economy was on the ballot, it lost. The Obama-Clinton foreign policy was on the ballot, it lost.

Now, with a strong mandate to pursue big reforms and complete control of Congress, Republicans can change it. This is the opportunity of a lifetime.

Please take a moment to listen to an excerpt of my remarks at Governor-elect Greg Abbott's election night watch party last night:

We are on the cusp of great change, but there is not a moment to rest. The Democrats are not going to give up so easily. President Obama will likely resort to more desperate tactics now that Harry Reid, his biggest enabler in the United States Senate, has been fired as Majority Leader.

But now Republicans are in a position to do something about it.

Thank you for all you do. It is an honor to fight for the future with you and, together, we are going to restore the American dream for every man, woman, and child.

For Liberty,

Ted Cruz

P.S. I hope you'll watch and share my remarks on what should be next for the Republican party. A transcript is below:

It [is now] incumbent on Republicans to lead. To stand up with a bold, positive, optimistic agenda to turn this country around. To bring back jobs and growth and opportunity.

For six years we have been trapped in the Obama stagnation and malaise.

Now is the time for tax reform.

Now is the time for regulatory reform.

Now is the time to go after and do everything humanly possible to repeal Obamacare.

Now is the time to stand up to the President and say no more amnesty.

Now is the time to stand up and say follow the Constitution, honor the rule of law, and protect the Bill of Rights.

Now is the time to say that we will stand for the First Amendment rights for religious liberty, for free speech for every American.

Now is the time to stand up and defend the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms.

Now is the time to protect the Fourth and Fifth Amendments and our rights to privacy.

Now is the time to honor the Tenth Amendment and repeal Common Core. And now is the time to restore America’s leadership in the world.

Tonight the American people have stood up and said we want a new direction.

The Obama Economy is not working and we want to get back to the free-market principles and constitutional liberties that built this country. And now is the time for Republicans to come together in unity, to stand as one, and to stand for principle and to say we will honor the trust you have placed in us.

The era of Obama lawlessness is over. And with new leadership in Washington we will stand together and pledge to listen to the American people.
