Thanks God for Hearing our Prayers

Friend --
MDSias.jpg
As we close this years' Nation Day of Prayer, I wanted to update you and share with you how God hears are prayers, but sometimes in a different time then we expected.

I just learned today that the young female staffer I worked to get away from the Chairman of the US House the Defense Committee, who offered her sex in exchange for a job in 2006, is now wonderfully married with a newborn boy! Praise the Lord, that when we sometimes don't see the fruit from the hardest things we go through, He hears our prayers in His season.

In the same way, I am now working for the same David Barton, who 16 years ago who inspired me with this question, who is going to the darkest places of the earth who is going as a light to the smoke filled room of politics.
The goal of David Barton's new ministry to pastors is that it would be a network of national and local pastors and pastor groups that equips and empowers pastors to engage in their Biblical and historical role to stand boldly for righteousness and transform society through spiritual and cultural engagement. Below I've included a sample of the weekly newsletter we send out to help Christians pray and act to heal our nation.

Sincerely,

MD Sias

National Polling Trends Among Youth
Conservative Leadership for 'The Next America'
By Star Parker

A new, sweeping demographic snapshot of the United States, "The Next America," has been produced by the Pew Research Center. The data and graphs present a stunning picture of how dramatically the United States has changed and how dramatically it will continue to change. The big themes that one walks away with is that America is getting older, less white, less religious, less traditional, and less patriotic. These trends suggest big questions regarding the future of the country and what the implications are regarding our politics and public policy. Read more..

Jesus Depiction May Have Been Discovered In Ancient Egyptian Tomb
A team of Catalan archaeologists have discovered what they believe to be among the oldest depictions of Jesus made by the earliest Coptic Christians in Egypt.

The researchers uncovered an underground structure in a series of buried tombs that date to the 6th and 7th centuries. Among the Coptic, or early Christian, images painted on the walls was what lead researcher Josep PadrĂ³ described as "the figure of a young man, with curly hair, dressed in a short tunic and with his hand raised as if giving a blessing." Barna: The age of screens has come to stay in the Bible market
Of adults who increased their Bible readership last year, one-quarter (26%) say it was due to having downloaded the Bible onto their smartphone or tablet. More than one in 10 (12%) credit their increased Bible reading to podcasts or streaming church services. And an additional one in 10 (11%) say watching The Bible miniseries on TV inspired them to read Scripture more.  Read more...

Newspaper Editor's Job Threatened by his Opposition to Gay Version of Bible
Newton Daily News editor Bob Eschliman accused "the Gaystapo" of trying "to make their sinful nature right with God" in a Monday post on his personal blog that has drawn national attention. National media critic Jim Romenesko reported on Eschliman's post Tuesday. Eschliman reacted to the website " Queen James Bible," which asserts that the notion of homosexuality as a sin was added to the Christian Bible in 1946 and not included in previous versions. The site sells a rewritten version of the Bible to be friendlier to gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and questioning people. Read more...

An ethical lesson from the Nixon White House: Set your boundaries early and sink them in granite. That's the best way to avoid being the star of headlines like those that recently appeared at just about the same time. My mind was impacted by both those incidents, as senior associate pastor in one of America's largest churches, and as a young junior assistant in the Nixon White House many years earlier. Read more...

The demolition reportedly took place at 8:35 p.m. on Sunday, Beijing time, after protesters—including church members—were dispersed by police. The church became the center of a tense standoff after thousands of church members formed a human shield on April 4 in an effort to save the newly constructed church from demolition. Read more...

Pastor Brings Grace to Gangland

What would make a man pack up his wife and seven children and move from a safe Arizona suburb to one of the deadliest neighborhoods in Los Angeles County? For Pastor Todd Grant, 49, it was a strong sense of calling. Today, seven years later, Powerhouse Church in Watts is bringing healing to a hurting community through numerous free programs including a dental clinic, mobile crisis pregnancy unit, job placement, counseling, tutoring, and an onsite medical clinic, which opened up the same week in 2007 that the nearby Martin Luther King Jr. Hospital closed its doors.
