ADA is thrilled to announce Senator Tammy Baldwin as the 2014 recipient of ADA's Bayard Rustin Citizen of Change Award. A champion of middle class economic security, Sen. Tammy Baldwin helped craft the landmark Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and has been a strong advocate for tax fairness, Wall Street regulation, student loan reform and other key issues. Senator Baldwin is Wisconsin’s first woman to serve in Congress and is the first openly gay member elected to the U.S. Senate. We hope that you’ll join Sen. Tammy Baldwin, Sen. Bernie Sanders, Max Richtman, Labor and liberal leaders at ADA’s 67th Annual Awards banquet to be held on Wednesday, June 4, 2014, at the Washington Court Hotel on Capitol Hill. Republican Terry Branstad has served longer than any other state chief executive in American history and was still widely popular as 2014 began. But a cluster of scandals has made him vulnerable and Iowa ADA is taking full advantage of the situation. ADA's election year program will not only be informing and energizing voters about Branstad's liberal Democratic opponent, but about other progressives down ballot as well.
