Urgent Call To Action: Reaffirm marriage

Reaffirm Marriage as Between One Man and One Woman

Shortly before noon Eastern time yesterday, U.S. Supreme Court justices finished hearing oral arguments in the first of two cases challenging state and federal laws that define marriage as the union between one man and one woman.

The testimony centered on California's Proposition 8, which banned same-sex marriage in the Golden State by a 52%-to-48% vote in 2008. According to FOX News, this morning's proceedings gave some insight into how the nine justices might rule in the case:

"Several Supreme Court justices indicated they might lean toward issuing a narrow ruling on gay marriage. ... If the justices choose to rule broadly, they could overturn Prop 8 and in doing so invalidate every other restriction on gay marriage in the country. But the justices suggested Tuesday they could decide the case without issuing a ruling that ripples through all 50 states."

Today, the High Court will hear oral arguments challenging a federal ban on homosexual marriage. Plantiffs want the Defense of Marriage Act, which was overwhelming approved by Congress and signed by President Clinton in 1996, overturned as unconstitutional.

Once arguments from both sides are made, the justices will return to their chambers to craft final opinions that are expected to be released in June. So the next 24-48 hours is crucial for mobilizing grassroots patriots to reaffirm marriage as the sacred union between one man and one woman.
