The 60 Plus Association, the nation's largest conservative seniors organization and acknowledged alternative to the liberal AARP, announced its endorsement of the budget produced this week by House Budget Chairman Paul Ryan (R-WI), which balances the nation's books in 10 years, simplifies the tax code, and reforms Medicare for future retirees. Under Ryan's budget, spending by the federal government will increase, but at a much slower pace, allowing economic growth and increased tax revenues to help close the yearly budget deficits by 2025.

Every Christian who has faithfully carried out the Great Commission, publicly identifying himself as a Christian and presenting the gospel to the lost, has come across the idea, whether stated or implied, that Christianity is an intellectually inferior position and that Christians are thus either naïve or stupid. By extension, then, Christian schools are academically inferior to secular schools, and Christian textbooks are academically inferior to secular ones.
Wondering why the unemployment rate has been near or above 8 percent for nearly four years? The Federal Reserve has an answer for you: Obamacare. Earlier this month, the Fed released its latest "beige book" – a monthly report on economic conditions across the country. The book noted that employers across the country have "cited the unknown effects of the Affordable Care Act as reasons for planned layoffs and reluctance to hire more staff."
It's been nearly three weeks since President Obama issued the sequestration order. Across the country, newspapers carry reports of furloughs, airport closings, children kicked out of Head Start. The consequences are beginning to snowball. But lawmakers have reacted to the bad news with a collective shrug. In the same week Congress is expected to pass government funding legislation that effectively locks in sequestration until the end of September, an unexpected reality is dawning on Washington: as bad as sequestration is, and was intended to be, it's not bad enough to do what it was designed to do.
