I trust that all are well. We certainly have had some crazy weather these past couple of weeks. Just when we were getting used to temperatures in the mid-60s we get days when the high is in the 40s. Aaaahhh, spring in Virginia!
Recently the US military has been in the news. I will start this discussion with a quote from one news article that works to address the fundamental question of the day: What is the mission of the US military? From the article:
"The mission of the armed forces is to protect the national security interests of the country. Any change to the nature or makeup of our forces must be done with respect to improving the likelihood of the success of that mission. No other reason for changing the character of our forces can possibly make any sense. To claim otherwise with a snide, condescending tone is risible to the point of utter absurdity.
