So much great information!” You don't want to miss our next MomsRising #KeepMarching Telephone Town Hall training on civics. We’ll discuss questions including: How does a bill become a law? And how does Congress interact with the White House, Federal Agencies, with the Supreme Court, and with YOU? 2. Urge Congress to Protect Health Care Now! We need you to raise your voice with us now: House Speaker Paul Ryan just released the U.S. House of Representatives “replacement” plan for the Affordable Care Act (a.k.a. Obamacare) and, well, it’s bad. Like, really, really bad. 25 MILLION people could lose their health care coverage. And Congress is going to start voting on it soon.

BACKGROUND: Our voices have been making a difference on health care. Now it’s time to pump up our volume. The House Republicans new plan, the American Health Care Act (AHCA), is a dangerous step in the wrong direction—it would harm women and children, people in rural areas and communities of color, while shifting costs onto hard working families. The plan obliterates the Affordable Care Act and proposes a weak replacement that would make health insurance less affordable, less accessible, and less comprehensive. The AHCA, as currently written, will cost lives and hurt our economy. Medicaid is also under attack. Time is short. Voting is happening soon. So the clock is ticking for us to raise our voices—and NOW is a critical time to make our voices heard and for YOU to take action!
BACKGROUND: Outrageous! Trump has just proposed that the Department of Homeland Security enact a policy of purposefully separating children and mothers at our southern border. This policy, if advanced, will cause extreme and unnecessary harm to children who have already experienced horrible trauma. It is nothing more than a blatant human rights abuse masquerading as immigration enforcement. Let’s get one thing straight here: Many of the mothers and children seeking safety at our southern border are fleeing what has become known as the Northern Triangle of Central America (parts of Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador). This region has the most homicides and is considered the most violent in the Western hemisphere. In fact, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services – a part of the Department of Homeland Security – found that 88 percent of these mothers and children had credible fear that meets the threshold for qualifying for asylum. Yet, almost none of them have received adequate legal representation. Shockingly, 80 percent of all refugee children from Central America continue to face their hearings alone.
4. Ask Your Member of Congress to Co-Sponsor the Healthy Families Act!

BACKGROUND: Ready, set, WIN! We could all use a win right about now...and we’re in luck! Family economic security policies aren't just moving forward in cities and states across the nation — they’re moving forward at the national level too: U.S. Senator Murray and U.S. Representative DeLauro swooped in last week (Super Woman style) with the reintroduction of the Healthy Families Act, national paid sick days legislation which is a true win-win-win for working families, businesses, and the economy! Facts, yes real facts still exist thankfully, show that this policy boosts families and the economy. And in these uncertain and tenuous times, it’s more important than ever to fight for the 41 million workers, including HALF of all working moms, who can’t earn a single paid sick day to stay home when they come down with the flu — or need to care for a sick child. Over 160 countries have passed this type of policy — and we can too. Now is the time. We can, and we must, fix this! Together with raising the minimum wage, paid family & medical leave, and equal pay, paid sick days helps ensure the economic security of families across our nation, especially in the most vulnerable communities, including communities of color and Muslim, immigrant, and LGBTQ+ families, as well as rural communities, all of whom are disproportionately facing unjust and harmful actions from the Trump Administration.

#KeepMarching - Telephone Town Hall on Goverment and Civics

After the Women’s March, women, mothers and others across the country vowed to #KeepMarching. And members like you are in fact still marching in many highly effective ways—by paying attention, speaking out and showing up, online AND on the ground! Thank you!
From healthcare and education to gun safety and Supreme Court nominations, it's more important than ever that we hold our elected leaders accountable for their actions and votes. And the better we understand our role and our power in the operation and oversight of government -- CIVICS! -- the better we'll be able to do so by being able to identify opportunities to take action and when best to make our voices heard.
That's why on Tuesday, March 21, at 9 PM EST/ 6 PM PST, MomsRising is holding a #KeepMarching Telephone Town Hall meeting on U.S. government and civics about how everything works.

Ryan stabbed us again...
Paul Ryan did it again.
He stabbed us in the back.
He's forcing his "ObamaCare 2.0" (or RINOcare) down our throats -- basically putting a new name on ObamaCare and endorsing Obama's signature welfare state obamination with Republican votes!
Once Ryan gets done, OBAMACARE WILL NEVER EVER BE REPEALED!
We do have an opportunity to STOP RYAN and the RINOs from destroying our country.
But we must act now!
TOMORROW, the House budget committee is holding a key vote. Grassfire wants to deliver petitions to key committee members -- but we are still short of our 100,000 signer goal.
Grassfire has been on the leading edge of exposing why Ryan's ObamaCare 2.0 is NOT a repeal. In fact it is RINOcare -- "repeal in name only" -- from its first paragraph (which admits it "amends" ObamaCare") to the entire structure of the bill.
Despite what Ryan et.al. say, this bill will continue to bankrupt our healthcare system because it keeps the main driving forces of ObamaCare in place!
Ryan's ObamaCare 2.0 is a BETRAYAL of the voters who sent Trump and the GOP to Congress to repeal ObamaCare! In fact, Ryan's bill is a betrayal to what he said just a few years ago!
