Two years ago on this day, congressional Republicans tried to pass a “skinny repeal” of Obamacare. But there was nothing “skinny” about it. If they succeeded, 16 million fewer people would have health insurance in 2026. It was part of over 70 attempts they have made to repeal the Affordable Care Act.
But even though congressional Republicans’ attempts have failed, Obamacare is still in danger while Donald Trump is president.
Trump has made it clear that he will leave no stone unturned in his effort to destroy Obamacare and rip health insurance from millions of Americans. He’s already started to try to dismantle the law using his executive authority. We have to stop him.
As a new farmer, I have benefited from the ACA since its inception...Private health insurance would be cost prohibitive to a start up farmer in a state with many financial challenges to starting a farm. -- Margaret, New Jersey
I have relatives that have been diagnosed with chronic diseases, and, at the time that they were diagnosed, their healthcare was running out and their insurance providers would no longer let them get the prescriptions they needed...The Affordable Care Act came into law and they were able to get the full care that they needed and live a full life. -- Mary, Nevada
My daughter was in college when Obamacare was enacted. She had a pre-existing condition and without the coverage for children under 26, she would have been without health insurance...Obamacare gave her the lifeline she needed until she was able to find a position that would provide her with the health care every American should be able to have. -- Carl, Pennsylvania
