| Robert -- When I was 9 years old, I developed a serious illness similar to spinal meningitis -- it put me in the hospital for months. I was raised by my grandparents and I would eventually make a full recovery. But when they looked for an insurance policy that would cover me in the future, they couldn't find such a policy because of my previous illness. Not from any insurer. Not at any price. My grandparents were forced to make great sacrifices to pay for my health care simply because I was a child who had been branded with the words "pre-existing condition."
