Remember, remember. . .

Dear Robert:

"Remember, remember the 5th of November."

If you've ever seen the movie V for Vendetta, you know that's the central tagline used by the revolutionaries who are fighting their oppressive government.

Today, my grassroots supporters all over the country are throwing a massive "5th of November" Money Bomb for my campaign.

Will you join in with your most generous contribution of $20.16 or more TODAY?

Will you help me give the national media and political establishment of BOTH parties something to remember this 5th of November?

Look to Washington, D.C. today, and it's not hard to see why so many Americans are angry.

We vote for politicians who promise to secure our borders and get nothing.

We vote for politicians who promise to "fight President Obama" and get more smoky backroom deals.

We vote for politicians who promise to undo ObamaCare, while voting to keep this train wreck rambling on.

BOTH parties are to blame.

BOTH parties seem more intent on spending us into oblivion and spying on our every move than keeping their campaign promises.

Robert, it's time the American people took their country back from the Washington Machine.

That means kicking out the career politicians by imposing term limits. It means forcing Congress to read the bills they RAM into law.

It means cutting taxes to ensure we whittle Washington, D.C. down to size.

It means enforcing the Bill of Rights and telling BOTH parties "hands off our liberties!"

New polls show my campaign is positioned in the top third of the Republican field.

My ground game is unmatched, and energy is sky-high.

Will you help me capitalize on my momentum?

Will you help me send a LOUD-AND-CLEAR message that resonates from coast-to-coast that we are willing to do whatever it takes to finally get our out-of-control federal government off our backs!

Will you contribute $20.16 or more today to help me ensure the Washington Machine has something to remember this November 5th?

I'm counting on you, Robert.

Please act at once.

Reminder! Tonight's Grassroots Roundtable Call

TONIGHT! - GRASSROOTS ROUNDTABLE CALL, 9PM EASTERN TIME

View this email in your browser

Dear Grassroots Leader—

This is a reminder to join us TONIGHT,
November 5th at 9:00 pm Eastern Time for our next GRASSROOTS ROUNDTABLE CALL. This will be just five days prior to the last GOP Presidential Debate in 2015.

This call has one purpose: to allow the voice of the grassroots to be heard by the Media.  The National Press will be on this call and will be listening to your thoughts and concerns. The high profile reporters on this call are interested in getting your perspective.

What are the grassroots looking for? If I was a debate host, here are a few questions that I would ask.

  • Candidates MUST address the problems at the IRS and what they will do to ensure Americans are protected from further punishment at the hands of their government. Lerner may be off the hook, but how will they continue to seek justice?
  • Are the Candidates committed to ripping out Obamacare once and for all? No more excuses! No more lame action or inaction! Which candidates do you think will declare war on Obamacare?
  • What do the Candidates say about the debt ceiling cave by Republican (again)? It may be acceptable inside the beltway, but will these Candidates listen to the people and force Washington to act instead of coasting on a free pass?
  • Which Candidate will stand up on that stage to admonish the latest budget deal that gives Obama everything and we get nothing, not even a commitment to cut the massive waste, fraud and abuse rampant at the federal level?

Rob Wittman's Weekly Update

Click here to visit my website

As children, many of us were told the story of the grasshopper and the ant, and most of us probably know it well. During summer, when the days were warm and it was hard to imagine winter's famine, the grasshopper rested and played while the ant was hard at work gathering food for scarcer times. When the winter did finally come, the grasshopper found himself starving while the ant and his friends ate heartily from the store they had collected months before. It isn't difficult to see how that children's fable carries over into adult life. We all know that days of necessity are coming. The only choice we have is whether and how we prepare for them.

For years, Washington has failed to prepare for the days of necessity. We have operated under the assumption that, no matter what we do or fail to do, the resources will always be there. Last week's Bipartisan Budget Agreement Act of 2015 was just another example of that kind of thinking. The negotiations that led to the deal reflect a longstanding pattern of procedural secrecy and inefficiency that has undermined our ability to make progress for the people we represent. While this legislation takes steps to protect Social Security Disability Insurance from reductions in benefits and Medicare Part B recipients from premium hikes, those provisions could have been put in place months ago with input from all Members. Instead of taking a five-week, mid-summer break, Congress should have been developing a unified strategy and taking care of the important work left to be done.

This deal provides $607 billion for defense spending in fiscal year 2016, falling $5 billion short of the budget request and House passed National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). As Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee's Subcommittee on Readiness, I could not support a budget that comes short of what we've been saying for months is the "lower ragged edge" of what we need to adequately train and equip our military to ward off threats from ISIS and others. Now, we are in the unfortunate position of being forced to pass a mechanism that will match the national security policy authorized in the NDAA to that lower funding level. This deal not only represents complacency with the government's lackadaisical leadership style, it fails to adequately address our readiness shortfalls, it does not provide for proper transparency, and it creates substantive questions about how increased spending will be offset.

As the House Republican Conference moves forward under new leadership, I hope that the slate will be wiped clean and that we will move, as a body, toward regular order. American entrepreneur and former owner of the New England Patriots Victor Kiam wisely said that "procrastination is opportunity's assassin." Last-minute, short-term solutions mean that we miss the opportunity to make real progress. This pattern of stop-gap spending has to stop, and I hope that House Republicans can unify toward that end. It's time for us to get back to work and plan ahead for days of necessity.

I'm always looking for ways to make Virginia's First District better, and your input means a lot to me. Please reach out to my Washington, D.C. and district offices and let us know how we can better serve you.

365 Days - The Countdown Has Begun: Grassroots Roundtable Call Thursday night

DATE CHANGE - GRASSROOTS ROUNDTABLE CALL MOVED TO NOV. 5TH AT 9PM ET

View this email in your browser

Dear Grassroots Leader—

Once again, the Republicans on Capitol Hill, led by Speaker John Boehner and Senator Leader Mitch McConnell, have betrayed us. The GOP is handing Obama and the Democrats the country on a silver platter. The debt ceiling back door deal has yet again, betrayed all Americans. This is not partisanship, but job security. So what are you and your activists going to do about this?

I want to hear from you on our next GRASSROOTS ROUNDTABLE CALL scheduled for Thursday, November 5th at 9:00 pm Eastern Time. This will be just five days prior to the last GOP Presidential Debate in 2015.

What are the grassroots looking for? If I was a debate host, here are a few questions that I would ask.

GET COVERED 2016

It's Time To #GetCovered

If you – or someone you know – needs health insurance, now's your chance to sign up for quality and affordable coverage. Open Enrollment only happens once each year. This year's Open Enrollment runs from November 1 through January 31. Don't miss your chance to get covered.

Here are three simple things you can do:

  • Serve: Visit Serve.gov to help people find local enrollment assistance and to find a volunteer opportunity near you. Be on the look-out for more volunteer opportunities throughout Open Enrollment season.

Here a few fast facts about getting covered through HealthCare.gov:

  • It's not as expensive as you think. 8 out of 10 people who enroll in a health plan receive financial help. In fact, most people can find a health insurance plan for as little as $75 or less per month.

  • It doesn't take as long as you think. During last year's open enrollment, it took most people only about 10 minutes to submit an application.

  • Sign up by December 15. December 15 is the deadline to sign up for coverage that starts on January 1. If you want to start the New Year with coverage, sign up by December 15.

  • Free help is available! If you have questions about your coverage or want to make a change, personal help is just a call or click away. Call 1-800-318-2596 or find free in-person help in your community by visiting LocalHelp.HealthCare.gov
