View in browser  |  Get our newsletters Good Morning, Pennsylvania MONDAY, FEB. 26, 2024 • TODAY'S WEATHER Skim for skimmers Have you ever been notified that your credit card has been stolen despite its being safe and sound in your wallet?   One way this happens is through skimmers, placed on ATMs, self-checkout machines or gas pumps. The illegal devices, snuck onto the machines, capture your credit card info when you swipe for payment. A thief uses the numbers to try to buy all sorts of things you probably don't want to spend money on.   While the skimmers can be pretty hard to notice, there are signs to look for: See if the credit card readers on the other  pumps and registers look the same. Wiggle the card reader; a loose one might be an add-on. Question any reader that looks bulky, out of place, is missing security tape or doesn't line up properly. Bob Casey and Republican Dave McCormick will likely shatter spending records as control of the Senate sits in the balance, but the weirdness level should be dialed way down, said one state political analyst.   Home soon: It's been five years since work began for Veterans Grove, a tiny-home village that will serve homeless veterans in Harrisburg. The 15 small houses and community center could open in spring or summer. Those who live there will get health care and other services. He's the third person to die at the jail since December. More than 20 have died there since 2019.   Police shooting: An armed man involved in what police called a domestic violence incident was killed Friday night after shooting at officers, Spring Garden Township police said. They added the man shot at them using multiple guns.   Judge out of jail: Suspended Harrisburg district judge Sonya McKnight, accused of shooting her estranged boyfriend as he slept, is out of jail after posting bond last week.   City homicide: A man died in a shooting last week in Harrisburg's third homicide of the year. A suspect was arrested on Friday and the victim's ID released over the weekend.   Car crashes after shooting: Someone fired a gun at a moving vehicle on Market Street in Harrisburg Friday afternoon, causing a crash, police said. A reopening date hasn't been announced.   Coffee, treats to go: Those traveling along North Front Street can pick up a cup of joe and pastries to go. TO Espresso, a mobile drive-thru, has pulled into Fort Hunter Station in Susquehanna Township.   Comfort food: A Cumberland County coffee shop serves comfort food, including its baked oatmeal, but it does more: The shop trains and mentors those who are aging out of the foster-care system.
