Pete -- The Obamacare marketplace opens tomorrow, November 1st -- and we need your help. More than 15 million Americans have found quality, affordable health insurance since the marketplace opened two years ago. That's pretty exciting news, but millions more are still uninsured. For the next three months, we're going to be working hard to make sure that every American who needs coverage has the information they need to get it. Chip in today, and help support that work. Thank you, Jack Jack Shapiro Director of Policy and Campaigns Organizing for Action P.S. Chipping in goes a long way towards getting more people covered, improving real lives. This work matters -- be a part of it.

The candy is going quickly
Pete -- Tomorrow, health care enrollment opens again for all Americans -- and OFA is going all in. That means that things are heating up around here, and it's starting to get a little stressful. (And when it gets stressful, I eat lots of candy -- and right now there's plenty of it laying around.) I don't mind the extra calories though, since we're doing all of this work for an important reason -- there are still a lot of people who need health insurance, and many of them don't know about the options on the marketplace. OFA's social media, email, and other digital tools are great ways to reach those people -- but we need your support. As we prepare to dig in during this open enrollment period, we need to know how big our plans can be. Will you chip in whatever you can right now? It's because of grassroots organizers that Obamacare has helped millions of people. But millions more still need to get covered -- they need to know that affordable, quality plans are available, but not for long. Say you'll help, Pete -- and you might lower my stress eating enough to save some candy for the kids. https://donate.barackobama.com/Help-America-Get-Covered Thanks, Caleb Caleb Gardner Digital Director Organizing for Action

Truth Team Digest: Police chiefs on gun violence, Obamacare shopping, and more
Diane -- You're one of the best messengers we've got in this movement. Here's some recommended reading that's easy to share. No fluff, just facts -- that's the Truth Team way. Know anyone else who can handle the truth? Forward this email to a friend -- ask them to join the Truth Team and receive updates like this. Obamacare Shopping Is More Important Than Ever The New York Times // Margot Sanger-Katz When some premiums increased last year, a lot of Obamacare customers were able to find good deals by switching to a new health plan. New calculations from the federal government suggest that many consumers will need to do the same to find the best price in 2016. Who Still Doesn't Have Health Insurance The New York Times // Quoctrung Bui and Margot Sanger-Katz Two years into Obamacare, clear regional patterns are emerging about who has health insurance in America and who still doesn't. The remaining uninsured are primarily in the South and the Southwest. They tend to be poor. They tend to live in Republican-leaning states. Mayors to Congress: 'Get a Backbone' and Pass Gun Control Politico // Ben Wofford The mayors of America's cities are deeply concerned about rising crime and homicide rates--and deeply frustrated with the Congress' continued inaction on gun control amid a spate of mass shootings. Stronger gun regulation is needed right now, mayors say, and Congress has hung them out to dry. U.S. police chiefs call for background checks for all gun purchases Reuters // Fiona Ortiz Police chiefs from across the United States called on Monday for universal background checks for firearms purchases, saying opinion polls consistently show that most Americans support such restrictions. The benefits of paid leave for children are real, majority of research says CNN // Kelly Wallace and Jen Christensen Currently, the United States is the only industrialized country in the world that does not guarantee paid parental leave. Israeli nuclear body endorses Iran deal, report says The Washington Post // Ishaan Tharoor A source "familiar with the commission's stance" told the left-leaning newspaper that its members believed that the deal would effectively curb Iranian ambitions to develop a nuclear weapon. Op-Ed: Paris climate conference is a rare opportunity -- grab it Financial Times // John Kerry, U.S. secretary of state [Paywall] A strong Paris deal would transform the global energy economy and help avert the worst effects of climate change. Success would reflect a new level of partnership: government leaders from every region, working constructively alongside the private sector and civil society to address an enormous challenge that no one could solve alone. This movement is powered by small-dollar donations from organizers across the country. Chip in today to help keep it going.
