Planned Parenthood Abortion Doc Surrenders License After Sexually Molesting Patients
A former Planned Parenthood abortionist has surrendered his Massachusetts medical license amid allegations that he sexually molested patients – many under anesthesia – during fertility treatments at Fertility Centers of New England.

However, yesterday’s story in the Boston Globe, which reported on Roger Ian Hardy’s legal woes, failed to mention that Hardy once worked for Planned Parenthood where he had similar access to women as he had at a fertility clinic where he molested and inappropriately touched women over a period of two decades. http://www.lifenews.com/2014/05/02/planned-parenthood-abortion-doc-surrenders-licenses-after-sexually-molesting-patients/

Parents Anguished as Premature Baby Left to Die, Hospital Wouldn’t Revive Baby Born at 22 Weeks
In a second case of its kind in two weeks, a hospital has refused to revive a prematurely-born infant — leaving parents in dismay as they were forced to hold their deceased child.

Anguished parents want answers why a doctor told them their son Aiden would be born with major medical problems and said they should let him die. Three hours after he was born, Aiden died and the parents want to know if medical staff did everything possible for him. http://www.lifenews.com/2014/05/02/premature-baby-left-in-parents-arms-to-die-hospital-wouldnt-revive-baby-born-at-22-weeks/

Feminists Blast Floyd Mayweather for Being Upset His Girlfriend Aborted His Twin Babies
He’s popular, famous, the world’s highest paid athlete – and pro-life? Cue the media backlash.

American professional boxer Floyd Mayweather just announced on Facebook that he split with fiancée Shantel Jackson because she “killed our twin babies” via abortion. In reaction to his May 1 post, feminist site Jezebel called him “bats**t insane” via columnist Erin Gloria Ryan. She bashed, “Oh my f*****g god what is wrong with you Floyd?” When the couple broke-up earlier this year, entertainment rumors alleged Mayweather cheated on Jackson. http://www.lifenews.com/2014/05/02/feminists-blast-floyd-mayweather-for-being-upset-his-girlfriend-aborted-his-twin-babies/

Single and Pregnant With Twins: I Didn’t Think I Wanted Them But I Couldn’t Kill Them in Abortion
Live Action was contacted by Makenzie Street, who wanted to share the story of how she became pregnant at 22-years-old with a man she had been dating for only a few weeks, and from one of the first times she had had sex.

Makenzie mentioned such hopeful words of inspiration. From the start she mentioned that she “had a great story … to share.” She thought “it could make a difference and [she] would love to help the fight against abortion.” http://www.lifenews.com/2014/05/02/single-and-pregnant-with-twins-i-didnt-think-i-wanted-them-but-i-couldnt-kill-them-in-abortion/

Planned Parenthood Doesn’t Think Someone With AIDS Should Tell Their Sexual Partner First
If someone with the AIDS virus was about to have sex with you, should they have to tell you about their HIV-positive status first? Planned Parenthood doesn’t think so.

In a brochure entitled Happy, Healthy, and Hot, which Planned Parenthood describes as a “guide for young people living with HIV to help them understand their sexual rights, and live healthy, fun, happy and sexually fulfilling lives,” the giant of the abortion advocacy world proclaims: http://www.lifenews.com/2014/05/02/planned-parenthood-doesnt-think-someone-with-aids-should-tell-their-sexual-partner-first/

Democrat Walks Out of Prayer Event After James Dobson Calls Obama “The Abortion President”
President Barack Obama has a laundry list of a pro-abortion record. He has promoted and supported abortion at every turn. He’s stacked his administration with abortion advocates, including former employees of top abortion advocacy groups.

Obama asked God to bless the Planned Parenthood abortion business and celebrated the anniversary of Roe v. Wade, which has resulted in the deaths of 57 million unborn children. It’s no shock that a pro-life advocate like James Dobson would refer to him as The Abortion President. http://www.lifenews.com/2014/05/02/democrat-walks-out-of-prayer-event-after-james-dobson-calls-obama-the-abortion-president/

Are British Doctors Following Belgium in Euthanizing Sick Children?
Back in February British Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt said he would investigate allegations by a retired doctor that sick children were being euthanized. That charge by Michael Irwin came literally hours after the Belgian legislature voted to make the country became the first nation in the world to legalize euthanizing children. (The King subsequently signed the bill into law.)

Appearing on LBC Radio this week, Mr. Hunt said, “An investigation is now under way by my department.” He added, “The police are not involved at the moment. I’m afraid I am not in a position to comment because it is highly sensitive.” http://www.lifenews.com/2014/05/02/are-british-doctors-following-belgium-in-euthanizing-sick-children/

Pro-Life Leader Has Plan Cancelled Under Obamacare, Now Forced to Pay for Abortions
Alliance Defending Freedom attorneys representing a Connecticut pro-life leader and his family that are losing their health plan due to Obamacare filed suit in federal court Thursday. http://www.lifenews.com/2014/05/02/pro-life-leader-has-plan-cancelled-under-obamacare-now-forced-to-pay-for-abortions/

Billionaire Mike Bloomberg Promises to Push Eugenics After Winning Planned Parenthood Award
On March 27, 2014, the former Mayor of New York City from 2002-2013, Mike Bloomberg, attended the Planned Parenthood Annual Gala and accepted the Global Citizen Award. http://www.lifenews.com/2014/05/02/billionaire-mike-bloomberg-promises-to-push-eugenics-after-winning-planned-parenthood-award/

Late-Term Abortionist Supports Michigan’s Gary Peters in Campaign Ad
Not only does Michigan Senate candidate Gary Peters enjoy the support of a late-term abortion practitioner, but the state Democratic party is running a commercial featuring the abortionist praising him. http://www.lifenews.com/2014/05/02/late-term-abortionist-supports-michigans-gary-peters-in-campaign-ad/

France Tells United Nations Abortion Should be an International Human Right
France claimed abortion is a right under international humanitarian law at the U.N. Security Council last week even though the claim is widely viewed as far-fetched and inappropriate. http://www.lifenews.com/2014/05/02/france-tells-united-nations-abortion-should-be-an-international-human-right/

Last Abortion Clinic in Toledo, Ohio Fighting Closure
When last we wrote about the Capital Care Network, the abortion clinic in West Toledo, Ohio had informed state authorities it had fulfilled the requirement to have access to a “local” hospital. http://www.lifenews.com/2014/05/02/last-abortion-clinic-in-toledo-ohio-fighting-closure/

Weekly Update from Senator Tim Scott

Friends,

Thank you for subscribing to my e-newsletter.  I appreciate being able to share news and updates with you directly.  Friends and family can sign up to receive them here.

Demanding Action on the Keystone XL Pipeline
President Obama has had 5 years to approve the Keystone XL Pipeline and bring much-needed jobs to the United States, but he continues to stall.  This past week, I joined 55 of my colleagues on a bill that would give Congress the authority to finally approve the pipeline, cutting out the politics that are being played with this important energy measure.

I spoke on the Senate floor in support of American energy independence and finally building the Keystone XL Pipeline.  You can watch below.

Keeping our Promise to South Carolina
South Carolina agreed to have a mixed oxide nuclear fuel (MOX) plant built in our state at the Savannah River Site in order to fulfill an international treaty to dispose of 68 metric tons of weapons grade nuclear material —not to allow it to sit half-finished while dangerous radioactive material is stored in the state.

Through letters to President Obama and DoE Secretary Moniz as well as multiple meetings with Secretary Moniz, joint efforts have been successful in keeping construction of the plant going through the end of this fiscal year.  It has been an integral part of agreements with Russia and other countries, and will be used to produce nuclear fuel that can be part of an effective “all of the above” strategy for American energy.

Read more about what is happening with the MOX plant in South Carolina here.

Obamacare Must Go
My stance on Obamacare hasn’t changed, and with the confirmation hearing for Sylvia Burwell as the President’s new Department of Health and Human Services Secretary this coming week, we have an opportunity to ask some very important questions.   Obamacare must be repealed and replaced with sensible reforms, and it seems unlikely that Secretary Burwell or anyone else could fix the mess this bad legislation has made.    In case you missed it, you can read the guest post I wrote for Red State here.

For daily updates on my work in Washington, you can follow me on Facebooktwitter, Youtube, and Instagram

It is an honor to represent you in the United States Sunday, and my staff and I stand ready to assist you in any way we can.  Please do not hesitate to contact my office with questions, comments, or suggestions.

Sincerely,

Tim Scott

Update from Mike Watson

Update

May 2, 2014

Dear Friends,

I hope you’re enjoying the warm spring weather…ok, the heat is coming, really.  Al Gore says so.

I’m writing to update you on a few issues affecting our state government as well as news on the Business Development Caucus and even some campaign fodder.

Now that the regular General Assembly session, one very brief special session, and the veto session are behind us, we know what to expect regarding new laws that will take effect on July 1.  I’m pleased to report that some of the initiatives I presented this year, submitted by friends on my behalf, were successful.  Most were bills developed last summer and in many cases, a result of meeting with Virginia businesses during our 2013 Business Development Caucus town-hall events.

In addition, one significant budget item that I had requested also appears on track to succeed – once we have a budget.  You may recall from my campaign mailers that I took a group to meet with the Governor last fall to discuss a new opportunity for thousands of construction jobs and 200 permanent high-paying career positions.  Governor McDonnell included this in his budget proposal and according to House and Senate budget conferees it’s likely to survive the process – again, once we have a budget.  We’ll cover that in a moment.

If you follow me on Facebook, you know that I spent some time in the Capitol over the last few months.  In fact, I was in Richmond during session at least a day or two each week except for two; one of which I used to travel with my family to the Daytona 500. This was  a family tradition for a decade prior to my 2011 election and despite the threat of tornadoes I enjoyed seeing an Earnhardt take the checkered flag again.

Otherwise, I was fairly active testifying before committees and supporting my BDC colleagues whenever I could.  I will admit to enjoying my nights at home however, while accomplishing, with the help of friends, successes equal to or exceeding some who were in Richmond full time.

In the last few weeks I’ve been invited to speak to several organizations and participate in a variety of Hampton Roads education and economic development events.  Two such events were held in Newport News this week and are tied to issues I have and will continue to promote; workforce development and economic growth.

There is much work to be done to expand opportunities for the citizens of our region and state.  To the extent that I can help, I’ll continue to do so.

Respectfully yours,

Mike

The Budget

Bills, resolutions, and program expansions should have been secondary to the main purpose of the 2014 session, passing the state’s biennial budget; but it would not be.  That’s not to say it wasn’t tried.  In fact, the House and Senate conferees were within a fraction of a percentage from agreement lest the insistence by some that Medicaid be expanded ‘pursuant to the Affordable Care Act’.

I punctuated the last sentence to emphasize the real cause of the impasse.  It is not that Republicans fail to recognize the need for expanded access to affordable care or are unwilling to work towards that goal.  Rather, the governor and most democrats in the legislature demand an all-or-nothing solution, unwilling to settle for anything less than full expansion without consideration of practicable alternatives.  They would have you believe the so-called “private option” or “pilot program” offer compromise, but neither does.  The private option poses identical risk to Virginia taxpayers as the public option and the pilot program is nothing less than full implementation with an unrealistic clause allowing legislators to vote 400,000 new participants out of the program once they’ve had coverage for two years.

I recognize the need to resolve the issue of unaffordable care, it is real.  As an employer, I’ve dealt with double-digit premium increases for 25 years.  Had states acted earlier to implement reform, we might have avoided Obamacare altogether; perhaps we can revisit that after 2016.  In the meantime, Speaker Howell has proposed a special session to consider options for extending care to those who can least afford it.  To date the Governor appears obstinate, refusing to act on the budget without full-blown Medicaid expansion first.  We have 8 weeks before our current budget expires.  Interesting times are ahead.

On April 9th, the Virginia Gazette published some of my thoughts on the subject, you can find it here:  Op-Ed - A Compromise to Consider

Business Development Caucus – 2014

Last month, the Business Development Caucus (“BDC”) held its annual founders conference.  Meeting in the General Assembly office building, we reviewed the status of bills from its 2014 Legislative Agenda, confirming those that had passed and evaluating the future of those that did not.  We also set our summer town hall schedule which includes a stop in York County on August 28th.  The Daily Press covered a few agenda items here:  Daily Press Coverage of BDC

You can find the entire press release here:  BDC Press Release

Medicaid Expansion Concerns

There are numerous concerns with the unfettered expansion of Medicaid under Obamacare, but at the top of the list is doubt that the federal government “can” or “will” fulfill its obligation to cover 90% of the costs in perpetuity.  Most of us understand the “can” aspect as the U.S. already borrows 40 cents of every dollar it spends, but what about the “will”?  Some of the lawmakers pushing for expansion say that they trust the government to always pay its full share but recent testimony by the former HHS Secretary suggests otherwise.  Take a look at her testimony.  Click on the link below and fast forward to 2:22:50:

From the April 10, 2014 U.S. Senate Finance Committee meeting:

She says, "We are actually kind of ramping up the pressure on states and will look at potentially some administrative reductions in payment if people don't pick up this pace because having a backlog that is not being processed in a timely fashion is just keeping way too many people from the healthcare that they are entitled to."   They wouldn’t actually cut Medicaid funding to states as punishment…would they?

Last minute newsflash:  As I wrap up the final touches of this update, I'm reading a Washington Post article that just hit the wires, "McAuliffe weighs Medicaid expansion without legislature."  Friends, there's no congenial way to put this.  In four short months, Terry McAuliffe and Mark Herring are managing to dishonor the high esteem of our state government by disregarding the rule of law.  This letter is read by citizens of all political leanings and I do not desire to offend, but if you are one that believes the 'end justifies the means', I urge you to consider this.  This action, if taken, will set a precedent for future governors and will change the tone in Richmond for years to come.  Virginia is better than this; we all deserve better.

Thanks God for Hearing our Prayers

Friend --
MDSias.jpg
As we close this years' Nation Day of Prayer, I wanted to update you and share with you how God hears are prayers, but sometimes in a different time then we expected.

I just learned today that the young female staffer I worked to get away from the Chairman of the US House the Defense Committee, who offered her sex in exchange for a job in 2006, is now wonderfully married with a newborn boy! Praise the Lord, that when we sometimes don't see the fruit from the hardest things we go through, He hears our prayers in His season.

In the same way, I am now working for the same David Barton, who 16 years ago who inspired me with this question, who is going to the darkest places of the earth who is going as a light to the smoke filled room of politics.
The goal of David Barton's new ministry to pastors is that it would be a network of national and local pastors and pastor groups that equips and empowers pastors to engage in their Biblical and historical role to stand boldly for righteousness and transform society through spiritual and cultural engagement. Below I've included a sample of the weekly newsletter we send out to help Christians pray and act to heal our nation.

Sincerely,

MD Sias

National Polling Trends Among Youth
Conservative Leadership for 'The Next America'
By Star Parker

A new, sweeping demographic snapshot of the United States, "The Next America," has been produced by the Pew Research Center. The data and graphs present a stunning picture of how dramatically the United States has changed and how dramatically it will continue to change. The big themes that one walks away with is that America is getting older, less white, less religious, less traditional, and less patriotic. These trends suggest big questions regarding the future of the country and what the implications are regarding our politics and public policy. Read more..

Jesus Depiction May Have Been Discovered In Ancient Egyptian Tomb
A team of Catalan archaeologists have discovered what they believe to be among the oldest depictions of Jesus made by the earliest Coptic Christians in Egypt.

The researchers uncovered an underground structure in a series of buried tombs that date to the 6th and 7th centuries. Among the Coptic, or early Christian, images painted on the walls was what lead researcher Josep Padró described as "the figure of a young man, with curly hair, dressed in a short tunic and with his hand raised as if giving a blessing."
