Putting Families Back in Control of Health Care

December 13, 2025

Dear Friend,

Welcome back to my Week in Review newsletter. Please remember to follow me on Facebook, X, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube for regular updates on how I am serving the people of South Carolina!

Now that we’re in the heart of December, I’m reflecting on the progress we’ve made this year and renewing my focus on the work that still lies ahead. Every day, my priority is delivering real results for the American people - helping families keep more of what they earn, expanding access to homeownership, and strengthening the communities we call home. I’m grateful for the neighbors, local leaders, and public servants whose dedication keeps South Carolina the best state to live in. As we move through these final weeks of the year, my commitment remains to stand up for hardworking families and make sure every American has the opportunity to thrive.

"Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it."

— Psalm 22:6 (NIV)

Week in Review

Supporting Coastal Communities

This week, I had the opportunity to hear directly from local leaders and members of the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce, the North Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce, and the Grand Strand Business Alliance. We discussed key regional priorities - from strengthening our workforce to improving infrastructure and advancing smart coastal management. Their insight and dedication play a vital role in supporting South Carolina’s economic growth, and I’m always grateful for the chance to hear from those working every day to strengthen and advocate for our communities.

Putting Families Back in Control of Health Care

Year after year, middle-class families have seen their health insurance premiums rise under Obamacare, a system that has been in crisis since day one. Premiums go up, choices are limited, and far too many families feel trapped in a system that doesn’t work for them. That’s why I voted to begin fixing the mess that is Obamacare and to put power back in the hands of the people. By giving families the resources to make their own health care decisions, we’re empowering you to choose the coverage that fits your needs and your budget. My focus remains on ensuring that every American has the opportunity to access quality care without being weighed down by skyrocketing costs.

Protecting the Ten Commandments in Our Schools

Our nation’s strength and blessings are rooted in the Judeo-Christian principles that have guided us for generations, and the Ten Commandments have played a key role in shaping our country’s moral and historical foundation. I recently joined Senators Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and John Cornyn (R-Texas), along with Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.-04) and Representative Chip Roy (R-Texas-21), in filing an amicus brief defending the display of the Ten Commandments in public schools. This brief underscores that acknowledging the role of religion in our nation’s history is consistent with longstanding traditions and the First Amendment, and it affirms that students benefit from understanding the values and civic culture that have guided America for centuries. From my time on the Charleston County Council to serving in the United States Senate, I have been committed to protecting this heritage and ensuring that future generations can learn from the principles that have made our nation strong.

Sharing the #SCSweetTea

Seacoast Church’s Street Ministry is shining a bright light across the Lowcountry, stepping up in an extraordinary way to support neighbors experiencing homelessness. By bringing hot meals, clothing, hygiene kits, and heartfelt encouragement directly into encampments, motels, and neighborhoods, these volunteers are meeting people where they are and reminding them they’re not forgotten. Their work is transforming lives one conversation, one prayer, and one act of compassion at a time - proof that when our community comes together with purpose and generosity, hope always finds a way forward. Fox Business: Senate banking leader credits Trump for economic progress after one year of leading top finance committee

By Preston Mizell

December 9, 2025

Senate Banking Committee Chairman Tim Scott, R-S.C., outlined the work the GOP-led committee has achieved in the past year and revealed what priorities are on the horizon for 2026 during an exclusive interview with Fox News Digital.

Scott was quick to credit President Donald Trump, a former primary presidential opponent of the South Carolina senator, for his role in driving the Republican banking leader’s objectives across the finish line.

"I think one of the best decisions the voters have ever made in my lifetime was electing President Trump to be our 47th president," Scott told Fox News Digital. "As a result of that, affordability became a clear focus because President Trump wanted to make sure that the average American lived better than they did under President Biden."
