| Supporting Coastal Communities This week, I had the opportunity to hear directly from local leaders and members of the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce, the North Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce, and the Grand Strand Business Alliance. We discussed key regional priorities - from strengthening our workforce to improving infrastructure and advancing smart coastal management. Their insight and dedication play a vital role in supporting South Carolina’s economic growth, and I’m always grateful for the chance to hear from those working every day to strengthen and advocate for our communities. Putting Families Back in Control of Health Care Year after year, middle-class families have seen their health insurance premiums rise under Obamacare, a system that has been in crisis since day one. Premiums go up, choices are limited, and far too many families feel trapped in a system that doesn’t work for them. That’s why I voted to begin fixing the mess that is Obamacare and to put power back in the hands of the people. By giving families the resources to make their own health care decisions, we’re empowering you to choose the coverage that fits your needs and your budget. My focus remains on ensuring that every American has the opportunity to access quality care without being weighed down by skyrocketing costs. Protecting the Ten Commandments in Our Schools Our nation’s strength and blessings are rooted in the Judeo-Christian principles that have guided us for generations, and the Ten Commandments have played a key role in shaping our country’s moral and historical foundation. I recently joined Senators Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and John Cornyn (R-Texas), along with Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.-04) and Representative Chip Roy (R-Texas-21), in filing an amicus brief defending the display of the Ten Commandments in public schools. This brief underscores that acknowledging the role of religion in our nation’s history is consistent with longstanding traditions and the First Amendment, and it affirms that students benefit from understanding the values and civic culture that have guided America for centuries. From my time on the Charleston County Council to serving in the United States Senate, I have been committed to protecting this heritage and ensuring that future generations can learn from the principles that have made our nation strong.
