Look around.
There is a great sense of fear taking hold in our country, and I understand it.
We are seeing Trump and the Republican Party threaten to cut Medicaid, Social Security, Medicare, nutrition programs and more in order to cut taxes for billionaires.
As you read this, we are seeing the real-time impacts of Trump's tariffs that will end up being a massive tax increase for working class Americans.
And we are seeing people and organizations staying quiet while others capitulate to his clearly unconstitutional threats.
All of that, understandably, creates a great sense of fear.
There are many things that we knew would happen — and I am not here to say I told you so — but now we are here.
But just as fear has a way of being contagious, I am also here to say, my dear friends, that courage is contagious as well.
Answering the call at this moment shouldn't be up to you, but as the Republican Party and many institutions fail to stand up to what is happening, it is up to all of us to act.
A strong Democratic Party has never been more important. You can count on the DNC to work to elect a Congress that will stand up to Trump while doing everything they can to resist his policies.
But they need the resources and cannot do it alone. So I am asking, humbly, especially today.
