Important VA Resources
Friend, Virginia's First District is home to an ever-growing veterans population, and over the years, I've been blessed to get to know many of those men and women. Ensuring that our nation's veterans receive the best care possible is one of my top priorities, which is why I'm proud to support many pieces of legislation to help veterans, including the PACT Act, Veterans Choice Accountability Act, and the BRAVE Act. With available programs frequently changing and updating, I wanted to make sure you were aware of the most up-to-date resources for healthcare, mental health care, family services, and more. Here is the latest information, directly from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA): VA Welcome Kit | Inside this packet, you will find information on your benefits and eligibility, how the VA can support you through different phases of life, a checklist for accessing the benefits and services you deserve, and emergency resources for mental health and immediate care. Mental Health Resources The VA has many programs available, such as telehealth appointments, 24/7 confidential crisis support, and additional resources outside the VA. Here you can find information on getting started with mental health services. Whether or not you are already receiving services from the VA, you can always obtain mental health care and speak to peers confidentially. If you're ever feeling overwhelmed, depressed, lonely or isolated during the winter or at any time of year, call 988 and press 1 to contact the Veterans Crisis Line. Veterans may also reach out by text at 838255 and through chat. | I understand navigating federal agency programs can be complicated, which is why I encourage you to complete this survey to send feedback directly to the VA. If there's anything my team can do to assist you with a federal agency like the VA, please don't hesitate to contact my office at (202) 225-4261 or Wittman.House.Gov. Do you know someone who would be interested in this information? If so, forward this email and invite them to sign up for my newsletter here. Sincerely,
