Sheriff (Ret.) Danny Diggs Becomes the Republican Nominee for the 24th Senate District
I would like to thank the residents of the 24th Senate District for putting their faith in me and nominating me as the Republican Candidate for the State Senate. Last year, when I announced my candidacy, I knew the Commonwealth I love needed leaders in Richmond who were ready to get to work.
Since Governor Youngkin was sworn into office, Democrats in Richmond have stood in the way and blocked every meaningful effort to reverse the dangerous soft on crime pieces of legislation they passed since they took power. It is time for a change, and my opponent, Monty Mason, has been on the wrong side of every consequential issue.
My opponent has opposed legislation that would allow drug dealers to be charged with felony homicide if they sold drugs that result in an overdose. He has refused to investigate the parole board for any wrongdoing and he even patroned the bill that allowed students to commit crimes in schools and have that information go unreported to the police. It is not just misguided politics, it is downright dangerous to continue these failed policies.
We need a change, and we need it now. As a lifelong resident of the Commonwealth, I know the challenges facing our community, and I am committed to finding practical solutions that benefit everyone. As your next State Senator, I will work to make your family safer, not coddle violent criminals. I will fight to lower our tax burden and lower our healthcare costs.
