Friend: In a moment, I'm going to ask you to make an NAACP donation towards our $75,000 end-of-month fundraising goal but first let me tell you why this is so important. Our nation is facing an extraordinary racial justice crisis and to ensure this new administration takes action, the NAACP has been working with the Biden-Harris administration to create a Racial Equity Envoy to consult them on every aspect of policy. We're proud to announce that the White House has chosen Susan Rice to lead a team of changemakers. During last night's NAACP 100 Days Town Hall Rice said, "the equity agenda is not just a question of policy. It's the bedrock on which we will build government for all people". We were also excited to hear that President Biden has signed an executive order stating that the federal government will no longer enter contracts with private prisons! This is great news – but our work is only just beginning. Protecting and expanding voting rights, building affordable housing, providing economic opportunity for all, making healthcare accessible, re-investing in our schools, combating climate change, and holding the previous administration accountable are all issues that still need to be addressed. The NAACP's ability to continue pushing this new administration to center racial equity in every area of policy depends on our team hitting our first fundraising deadline of the year. We need to raise $75,000 by Sunday to ensure we have the resources to keep the pressure on. Will you make a donation today and help us close the gap? Let's do this! Derrick Johnson NAACP President and CEO |
