PLEASE ATTEND: Board of Supervisors meeting TOMORROW

Fellow Members of the King George TEA Party:
.
As discussed during our monthly meeting on 4 June, the Board of Supervisor's meeting will be held tomorrow (16 June) evening at 6:30 PM in the gymnasium at the King George High School.  This meeting is extremely important as the main topic of discussion will be whether or not King George county will approve rezoning for The Villages at King George Crossroads project.  From an economic development perspective this project will support needed county development and is expected to mitigate the need to levy additional taxes upon county residents.  Here is the posted agenda:

I served a couple of years on the King George Economic Development Authority and came to recognize the value that managed commercial development will bring to the county.  Yes, we absolutely do cherish our rural lifestyle… but the widening of the H. G. Nice bridge to Maryland will bring development to our county - whether we want it or not.  We county citizens can either guide that development so that it creates a positive structure to our county or let that development grow in an 'ad hoc' fashion.  I believe the former is more beneficial and this is why we citizens must be actively engaged to create the county that we wish to live in.

The Villages project is one effort that will positively support our county's strategic vision.  One specific benefit will be that the county will get a much-needed urgent care clinic to be operated by Mary Washington Healthcare. - an important asset when the nearest hospital is 45 minutes away!  The other is the commercial tax revenue it will generate that will mitigate the excessive debt currently held by the county's Service Authority.  Both are needed.  For more description, however, I welcome you to review this Free Lance-Star article:

Please take the time tomorrow to attend this important Board of Supervisors meeting.  If you would like to make any comments on this issue, public comment will be welcomed.
