| The shutdown is over. The debt limit has been raised. Obama’s health care law is enacted, and 1 million people have already registered in the new health care exchange created by ObamaCare. None of this would have happened without you. Thank you for your calls and your contributions. Thank you for letting your Representatives know that you won’t let the American dream and economy be held hostage by a small minority touting extreme demands. Thank you for demonstrating that these extreme tactics will only unite the people to oppose these candidates in the next election. But there is still a lot of work to be done. The shutdown may be over, but now we face the challenge of fighting for progressive programs at the budget conference which must decide on a long-term spending plan by December 13. We must work for a responsible budget that will spur our economy, invest in the shrinking middle class, and raise wages for the poor. While Republicans moved from ‘‘EXTREME right” to the “plain right” in the October 16th negotiations, Democrats were pulled right from center. It's our job to make sure that the negotiations are balanced. We cannot talk about a budget without talking about revenue. We need to continue push our Democratic leaders to stand strong – and that means hands off Social Security, education, infrastructure, nutrition and other vital programs. Moreover, it's high time that the wealthiest Americans and corporations pay their fair share! Even the International Monetary Fund (IMF) says so! Sign the petition to urge the Democratic Leadership to stand strong and push a revenue driven budget at the budget conference. Petition Text: Stand strong and support a budget that includes tax fairness! The new budget needs revenue!
